New radiator central heating system
Whenever we install a new gas central heating system, each room is correctly sized for heat losses and solar gains etc., therefore you are rest assured that each and every radiator fitted is correctly sized for each area. This means that it will guarantee your chosen design room temperature even with an external temperature as low as minus 3 degrees, also it will not be oversized, meaning you are not heating a bigger radiator than is necessary.
|
Choose from classical compact stove enamelled radiators with 5 year guarantee, designer radiators (horizontal or vertical), plinth heaters, fanned convectors or reproduction cast iron column radiators. Each radiator will be chosen to fit an area of your choice and with 5 height choices and numerous widths* there is always one that will look perfect for your room(s). |
Underfloor Heating
We have a great deal of experience with underfloor heating, which is becoming more and more popular because it provides a more comfortable heated environment as opposed to fixed radiators which provide localised heat and are often dangerously hot for children. Underfloor heating is normally at least twice the price of an equivalent radiator installation but the running costs are much cheaper once installed, it will feel more comfortable, save valuable wall space and have more accurate control. Perfect for areas with very high ceilings, double height ceilings etc. where conventional radiators would be pointless.
Underfloor heating can be added to existing systems, for example if you extend the house or refurbish rooms. You can choose a wet system, running off your existing gas central heating, or choose an electric mat system with independant thermostat(s) control.
Underfloor heating will work especially well with new condensing boilers or better still solar or a Heat Pump system. With a Heat Pump, you can have the option of cooling your home during the heat of the summer at virtually no cost, making the process of cooling totally environmentally freindly which most air-conditioning system are not.
If you are lucky enough to have a swimming pool, with a Heat Pump and underfloor heating, the cooling of your home in the summer can heat your swimming pool for free! saving hundreds or thousands of pounds running an expensive gas boiler to heat your pool.
* refers to compact radiators.
New condensing combi boiler & 6 radiator systems installed from as little as £2,995.00 plus vat
New conventional condensing gravity or sealed system boiler, cylinder, controls & 6 radiators installed from as little as £3,395.00 plus vat
Underfloor heating for a new extension or conservatory from only £1,500.00 plus vat including manifold, pump station & pipe.
Cost example:
A typical solid ground floor installation with an average 4 rooms (each approximately 16 square meters), therefore average 8 system manifold with independent solenoids per circiut/zone & flow metres, also pump station, with special ufh mixing valve, electrical thermal cut out, grundfos alpha+ pump, individual room thermostat per room, quality pex aluminium pipe & all system pipe work & wiring to/from boiler would cost around £2,900.00 plus vat. Including full installation & commissioning.
Check out www.screwfix.com & you will see that the materials alone will cost over £2,000.00!
Gas condensing boilers

It is now building regulations to fit an "A" or "B" rated energy efficient boiler whenever replacing an existing boiler or installing a new system. These boilers are condensing, which basically means that they condense the heat that traditionally used to exit through the flue (out to atmosphere) at several hundred degrees centigrade, to a much cooler flue temperature resulting in a water vapour. This then increases the efficiency of the appliance to around 90%, as opposed to an old cast iron boiler which may have been no more than 50% efficient.
Gas prices have increased by 20% in the past year and there is speculation that it may increase by up to 40% in the coming year, so when it comes to choosing a replacement from 1st April 2005, ensure that it is a condensing boiler. This not only complies with regulations (for which you will have a certificate), but without one, you will encounter problems when you come to sell your property.
Some gas installers are still fitting cheap non condensing boilers, these undoubtably will be cheaper to install but will cost you more in the long term. |
Condensing boilers can be installed almost anywhere. The picture above shows an installation in the cellar of a large Victorian house. The cellar, being underground was not a problem for us, as we chose a small commercial appliance with a flue that could be adapted externally to its safe terminal.
Lofts are also a common place to install condensing boilers and they often free up valuable space in the kitchen where most have been.
Replace your old conventional boiler with a new condensing gravity or sealed system boiler from as little as £1,095.00 plus vat, including a system power-flush
Include a replacement indirect quick recovery cylinder (120 litre) and immersion heater for just £260.00 plus vat
Update your system controls to recommended "best practice" controls which includes; a 5/2 day digital programmer, 3 port motorised valve, cylinder thermostat, room thermostat, new system pump + isolation valves, automatic by-pass valve & wiring centre from just £295.00 plus vat
Replace old worn or leaking radiator valves for new honeywell thermostatic radiator vales for just £25.00 plus vat each, supplied and fitted.
Unvented Hot water Systems
 |
Unvented hot water storage systems are becoming increasingly popular due to their mains water pressure performance without the need of a noisy boosting pump. Also, because the water is mains fed, it potentially eliminates the need for any stored water within the loft, which could freeze, creating widescale damage. Insurance companies actually reduce your household premiums if you declare that you have no stored water in the loft!
Subject to incoming mains water supply pressure, these Unvented units are not cheap but they provide a great solution for two bathroom households, or bathroom plus shower-room used simultaneously. Heat loss is practically eliminated due to their superb insulation and outer shell which is cold to the touch. As with everything, you get what you pay for as some unvented cylinders are far superior to others.
We only tend to fit the more expensive stainless steel units due to their quicker heat recovery, very long guarantee and anti-scale design. |
Renewable Energy and System Controls
Solar hot water systems are rapidly increasing in popularity in view of spiralling energy costs. Fitting a new new solar domestic hot water installation will provide between 60% - 70% of your ANNUAL hot water from the sun. The 4-6 month late spring to autumn period being generally 100% and over the winter period marginally less. Linked with your existing gas boiler, any shortfall is compensated with your boiler.
Being a Roth approved installation company, also a trained & qualified Baxi Solar Logic installer, we can provide a full design and installation service to meet your specific requirements thereby reducing carbon emission, saving money and helping to save the planet.

We have also become an approved installer for the fantastic Danfoss Heat Pump range. Although there is little demand or the space for installing ground source Heat Pumps to built up areas, the Air to Water Heat Pump can be fitted anywhere.

If you do not already have similar controls to your heating and hot water system (as above) then by investing in such controls you will not only reduce your running costs substantially but also provide greater comfort control over your room temperatures and hot water temperature.
Did you know that the government has reduced VAT for parts and labour on energy saving controls (such as the above) from 17.5% (standard rate) to only 5% VAT! so invest now before the scheme ends.
TRV's or thermostatic radiator valves are considered to be the most cost effective means of energy saving on your heating costs. For a small investment they offer a quick return on your investment and long term benefits.
More advanced domestic controls available including outside sensors and computerised energy management systems which can control your premises remotely from any computer throughout the world.
Install a two panel Worcester Greenskies or Vaillant Solar domestic hot water system together with a 300 litre twin coil cylinder and all the necessary controls, fully installed from only £4,500 plus 5% VAT. Once installed, see the benefits of 60% - 65% of your annual hot water heated for FREE for the lifetime of your solar installation!
Vaillant large solar set (5 x 550mm panels) for only £5,800.00 plus 5% VAT
We can supply and fit a 3kw air source heat pump (COP of up to 5) within your loft to provide all domestic hot water requirements for as little as £1,500 plus VAT
